About us

This small city located in the Southern part of Békés county, counts with a great tradition in water-fowl husbandry and also feather processing and bedding item production built on it. In this region, excellent raw material meets century-long professional experience, so products produced here have high added value, and guarantee reliable, constantly high quality standards. Hungária Down Co. Ltd’s traditions strengthens this furthermore, as during our 40-years of operation, we got into close contact with the Japanese market and its high expectations, and the strict standards required by them have been integrated in our everyday production process.
Production
The structure of our factory and the operation of our installations have been adjusted to our customers’ needs and to our existing markets during recent years. The story of our company has developed so that the production is divided into two basic areas at our site in Mezőkovácsháza: one of them is automated mass production and the other one is handcraft manufacturing.

Markets:
During our 40 years history we tried to build our markets continuously but consciously, as the most important motivation for us is satisfying our clients’, costumers’ expectations completely, not the fast expansion. The background of our success is not quantity but high quality without compromise – our results and positive feed-back also prove that our concept is right.
Today, our products are present on almost every continent. Starting from Japan, through the South-Asian countries implying world trends, the quickly developing Arabian markets and the EC member states, to North-America, the pillows and quilts produced by Hungária Down Co. Ltd in the factory at Mezőkovácsháza are present in several home interior department stores and also in rooms of many high-end hotels.
Company history:
The base for our company has been made in 1975 by ÁFÉSZ (General Consumption and Sales Corporation)by creating its first factory specialized mainly in quilt sewing, brocade quilt manufacturing, which became well-known very quickly in the industry. The success and business expansion are well represented by the fact, we started production for the Japanese market. By 1987 the demand for our products increased to such extent that we had to broaden our site at Mezőkovácsháza.
1989, the year of home textile fair in Frankfurt and Tokyo brought a big change for our company in the Japanese market. Due to the massive interest – with 6 years of our provider history- we appeared with our products individually and started exporting to the insular country. Proof of the seriousness and grade of interest: even the Japanese heir to the throne visited our stand in Tokyo. As it turned out, the expansion in Asia was a good decision, as 2 years later our owner Áfész became bankrupt, and our factory was purchased by 4 Japanese investors. During the years before the millennium, the operation of our company became solid, our markets stabilized; we needed to satisfy every time higher quality expectations during production, and this made possible for our products to be mentioned among premium quality quilts throughout the world.
There was a new switch in owners in 2002 as Hungarian investors bought the firm and it mainly became Hungarian-owned again. 2011 was a very important year in the life of the company named Hungária Feather processing Co. Ltd., as we started discussions in order to become providers with representatives of the world-wide known interior design store chain, the Swedish IKEA. The negotiations were successful, so we started to produce for a new market in 2013.
Our production and sales activities are determined by these two sales areas: individual world market export and being an IKEA-provider. In 2017 the name of the company Hungária Feather processing Co. Ltd changed, and now as Hungária Down processing Co. Ltd, the company continues to work relying on our colleagues’ decades-long expertise and our excellent business relationships.
